New Years

Happy New Years.
Thought painting a portrait of Slavoj Zizek would be suitable for the occasion.
Unfamiliar? He's a Slovenian philosopher with a lot of important things to say about everything.  He recently wrote a book called Living in the End Times, and since it's 2012, the much speculated date, I thought he was a face for this year. Of course, neither Zizek or I believe in the apocalypse. However, I tend to believe in a major world shift happening instead. And Zizek is around for commentary:

Holy Daze

Tonight there's a white elephant party hosted by friends Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson, two great illustrators + people.
Every year each guest makes art as a present, so everyone knows they're getting something unique, no matter how the exchange turns out. Hopefully if you read this post before the actual things happens, you're not one of the guests.
Spoilers.

Whoever gets my gift is going home with not only this Yeti mask I handmade, but also a FREE copy of Teenage Medicine #1. You can't go wrong, people.

Here's my gift from last year's party:

Made from watercolor paper.

The winner:

The winner last year happened to be one of the only kids at the party. But hey, I'm glad it went to a kid. It's pretty much a toy robot, after all.
And I ended up with an original Clayton painting!

This year, I don't know if I can give this mask away, though. Just look at it.

Just gaze upon its majesty.

Pages from a lost Bierce project

Some pages from my abandoned graphic adaptation of a short story by one of the masters of Southern Gothic, Ambrose Bierce.
Might actually revisit this project someday. I read Bierce in high school and have since been captivated by his unique imagery.
